Akhilesh Yadav Accuses BJP of Damaging India's Reputation Over Alleged Ram Temple Donation Misappropriation

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the reported misappropriation of Ram temple donations has damaged India's global reputation and hurt devotees worldwide. He accused the BJP of losing credibility, while an investigation continues after allegations of missing valuable offerings and cash donations.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday alleged that the reported misappropriation of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya has angered devotees of Sanatan Dharma across the world, especially those who contributed financially or offered personal donations for the temple.

Yadav claimed that reports of alleged theft and irregularities involving offerings, donations and contributions at the Ayodhya temple have spread internationally, causing embarrassment among devotees living in different countries.

"The news of theft of offerings, donations and contributions from the Ayodhya temple has spread across the world. Followers of Sanatan Dharma living in different countries are ashamed because of the disrepute caused by the BJP and its associates. They are also hurt because many of them had donated to the temple or personally offered contributions," Yadav said in a post on X.

The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister alleged that the country’s reputation was being harmed due to the actions of what he described as "irreligious elements" associated with the BJP. He further claimed that the controversy was affecting investor confidence globally.

"Investors across the world are withdrawing because they feel that if a government cannot safeguard even donations made to its own deity, how can it protect our investments tomorrow? The BJP government has completely lost its religious, cultural, political and economic credibility," he said.

In another post on X, Yadav rejected allegations made against him by BJP Member of Parliament Nishikant Dubey, who had linked him with Ramshankar alias Tinnu Yadav, an accused in the alleged temple donation misappropriation case.

Calling the allegations false, Yadav accused the BJP of relying on individuals whose personal records were allegedly controversial.

"The BJP committed a mistake by getting false allegations made through people whose personal record has historically been infamous and whose deeply corrupt social and political image is such that even leaders of their own party do not want them around," he said.

Yadav further alleged that such individuals were being used as instruments to spread allegations without having independent credibility.

"They have neither their own voice nor their own ideas. They are merely instruments in the hands of others. They have no personal credibility," he added.

The controversy emerged after several donors and individuals alleged that valuable items, including a gold Ramcharitmanas, silver bricks and other precious gifts, were missing or had not been properly recorded.

Following the allegations, the Uttar Pradesh government constituted a Special Investigation Team to examine the claims. The investigation has resulted in the arrest of eight accused in connection with the alleged misappropriation of cash offerings.

The allegations and subsequent investigation have intensified political exchanges, with Yadav accusing the BJP of damaging public trust and the ruling party facing scrutiny over claims related to the management of donations and offerings at the temple.
